Our Mission

Indivisible Upper East Side is part of a national organization committed to fighting climate change, protecting voting rights, and ensuring that women have the right to control their own bodies.

We are committed to undoing the damage Trump did as well as correcting continuing problems his departure did not solve.

OUR GOALS

Lobbying Congress and the NY legislature to expand voting rights, registering new voters, and increasing voter turnout. We will attend marches and rallies aimed at making sure our voices are heard.

Increasing our majority in the Senate by coordinating with out-of-state organizations on the ground in swing states, offering donations, and logistical help. We will also join in out of state canvassing efforts to talk to voters face to face. Our plan is to engage in phone calls, letter writing, and texting efforts to reach those who are not registered to vote, or to talk to voters in red or purple districts.

Fight climate change through letters, meetings, and phone calls to our elected representatives at all levels of government. We will work to protect New York’s air and water, and urge our local reps to make sure that New York City and New York state follow through on their Green New Deal promises.

We also want New York’s tax structure changed to be more equitable and ensure that our many super-rich residents pay their fair share.

Support a woman’s right to make her own decisions about her body and her reproductive care. Access to healthcare should not be subject to legislative whims or depend on which state you live in. We intend to protect women’s health care, both in NY and elsewhere, and support the efforts of organizations fighting in other states to make sure women can control their own bodies.

Combat the influx of dark money into politics by supporting campaign finance reform efforts and demanding that our elections have more public money, with campaign contribution caps, banning donations from lobbyists, and stopping companies doing business with the state from donating to political campaigns.

Our regularly scheduled meetings are held on the second Thursday of every month, from 7:30 p.m. - 9 p.m., at the Unitarian Church of All Souls on 80th and Lexington, or on Zoom during the pandemic. All are welcome, regardless of where you live.
