REBUILD THE US
We have clout! Let’s use it!

My name is _______. I am your constituent from NY-12 and a member of Indivisible Upper East Side. I would like you to prioritize building from President Biden’s American Rescue Plan to include urgently needed bold legislative improvements into the COVID-19 reconciliation package.
That means including minimum wage increases, expanding healthcare to the unemployed, covid health care access for immigrants, increasing state and local aid, and continuing survival checks.
Additionally, we expect you to continue fighting for swift passage of progressive legislative priorities that we can’t achieve through reconciliation.
Sincerely,
Thursday, February 11
MONTHLY MEETING
7:30
Zoom
Ranked Choice Voting is coming! It may seem a bit daunting, but Kim Moscaritolo will help us figure it all out. She will explain which elections are eligible, how it works, and what it means.
Then, Erica Vladimir will update us on the Invest in NY campaign to ensure that the super-rich pay their fair share and prevent cuts to essential programs.
NOTE: We are working on putting together a forum for city council candidates for our districts. Stay tuned!
GOOD NEWS!
The BOE did NOT approve the dodgy ExpressXL voting machines. These machines were a security risk, left no paper trail, and used a QR code as the real vote. Nope. Nope. Nope. But, thanks to lots of calls and emails, the BOE turned them down.
COVID UPDATE
NY State has extended eligibility to more people. You can now get the vaccine if you have underlying health conditions (regardless of age). It is also available to those with developmental disabilities. This will start on February 15.
QUARANTINE FUN

What do you do with a Bernie Sanders?
Bernie Sanders and his mittens sitting at the inauguration were a big hit on social media, as are (suddenly) sea shanties. Someone mashed them together.
Lunar New Year Food Fun (Wednesday, February 10)
Food, and art, that celebrate the lunar new year. Featuring works from the Freer Gallery's collection, as well as family food stories from Lydia Chang (of the Peter Chang restaurant empire). This is free, but limited to 500 people.
V-Day
Oh Romeo, wherefore art thou? Celebrate Valentine's Day (or just enjoy some great theatre) with a performance of Romeo and Juliet. This was recorded at a recreation of the Globe Theatre in London in 2019. Starring Nathan Welsh as Romeo and Charlotte Beaumont as Juliet.
