Dangerous Permits for Crypto Mining
Call Governor Hochul every day before March 31st at 866-942-5138
The Greenidge plant’s air quality permit is currently under review – with a March 31 deadline – so now is the moment for Governor Hochul to determine whether she’ll allow cryptocurrency mining to undercut New York’s climate goals. The kind of crypto mining used to make Bitcoin and other crypto currencies uses thousands of computers to solve complex math equations. According to the New York Times, this practice consumes more power than some entire countries. If allowed, crypto mining operations would drastically undermine the state’s climate goals established under the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA).

It only takes 2 minutes to call 866-942-5138 and leave a voicemail any time, and it's extremely important.

IONY Generalists Groups

2pm in Albany
Join IONY Generalist Groups and our sister organizationEmpire State Indivisibleas they head to Albany to tell Governor Hochul, Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, Speaker Carl Heastie, and all of our lawmakers that the rainy day is now and we expect our NYS budget to Invest In Our NY!

This will be their big, in-person push to make sure the budget includes full funding for the needs of our neighbors and communities. They have made this toolkit as a recruitment tool, with sample emails, tweets, and the event link and visual.

Gas Transmission Lines at Indian Point
Send a message to Secretary Buttigieg, Governor Hochul and New York State Public Service Commission to shut off the Algonquin gas pipelines at Indian Point, and prohibit construction of any gas or nuclear power facility at the site.

Three gas transmission pipelines crisscross Indian Point nuclear facility in Buchanan, NY near critical safety infrastructure and two earthquake faults. Decommissioning operations intensify the risks in close proximity to highly radioactive waste. Medical disaster experts have repeatedly warned that a pipeline rupture at this site could result in a radioactive disaster. The recent heightened threat of cyberterrorism is an added alarm.
