Time is Not On Our Side

Actions for Week of May 16, 2021

Protect our votes, stop Sinema from trashing democracy, and a comptroller debate

If we want to pass voting reforms, protect our votes, and stop the GOP, we’ve got to do it quickly.  Once the laws pass, they still have to be implemented (which takes time). So join us for this week's mini action to call Arizonans and urge them to tell Senator Sinema to protect democracy, not Mitch McConnell.

Any time this week
DON’T CHANGE OUR VOTES

A1115 would ban no paper trail voting machines that can change your ballot. Tell your reps to insist that legislative leaders to bring it to a floor vote before session ends on June 10th. Senator Liz Krueger already co-sponsors the Senate version (S309).

MAKE VOTING EASIER AND MORE TRANSPARENT

NY Senate bill S284A would prevent votes cast in the wrong polling place, in the correct county, from being thrown out for silly reasons.  More than 13,800 New York ballots in the 2020 General Election were disqualified because voters tried to vote in the wrong location.

S286A would allow public access by request to ballot images within a short period after an election. So you can make sure your vote was recorded correctly.

FOR THE PEOPLE- CALL ARIZONA
6:30 PM
Zoom

As all the recent news makes clear, the Republican party is officially at war with the democracy as a whole, and we have very limited time to stop their voter suppression and outright attempts at insurrection. That's why we are stepping up our efforts as a group with weekly actions to pressure Congress to abolish the filibuster and pass the For the People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act. Join us virtually for our first group action to call voters in Arizona to connect them with Senator Kyrsten Sinema and urge her to support S1 and filibuster reform.

Sign up here to make calls with us. We will start with a brief training, so no worries if you're new to phone banking!
