GET OUT THE VOTE (GOTV)
Getting out the vote for state legislative offices is by far the most critical action we can take. We have already learned that the states can and are passing draconian anti-abortion laws. This November could conceivably be the last election when the will of the people in red states can determine their laws, such as US Congressional members, governorships, state legislators…and thereby laws against abortion, gun, LGBT, contraception, and more.

The Supreme Court will be ruling in its next session on a case that would give state legislatures the power to overturn the popular vote, but it doesn’t usually make its final rulings until the end of its session, in late spring or early summer. We need to get out the vote before then.

Write letters and postcards
-Indivisible Upper East Side will be resuming its social gatherings (in person or virtual, depending on the state of Covid) soon, so stay tuned.

Michigan has dangerous trigger language on the books that may make abortion inaccessible in the state if folks don't turn out to vote. Right now there is an opportunity to get an initiative on the ballot that would protect access to abortion and with the decision to overturn Roe v.
