INVEST IN OUR NEW YORK

The state budget is due April 1. Call your state reps and tell them we can’t rely on one-time federal aid to get us through this budget crisis. We must tax the rich.

RGISTER VOTERS OF COLOR IN THE SOUTH
3 PM or 6 PM

Make follow up calls with Movement Labs and Black Lives Matter to urge Black and other voters of color in the South to register to vote.

These are not cold calls!  Instead, they are follow ups to people who responded positively to text messages.

You can do this at 3 or at 6 (whichever suits your schedule better).  If you can't make it this week, there will be additional sessions each Thursday. Training and breakout rooms if you need it.

Any time
MEET YOUR MAYOR

A handy tool from THE CITY news service. Answer a few questions on several important topics (like education and policing), with more to come, and they’ll match up your replies to the candidates that agree with you.

STOP VOTER SUPPRESSION IN GEORGIA

Georgia Republicans just successfully bills to limit early voting, add new voter ID rules, let state officials to take over local election boards (!), and more horrors, including criminalizing giving food or water to people on line to vote!

Georgia's big corporations say they support voter, Black, and minority rights. Insist they put their money where their mouths are.  Tell them to stand up for voting rotes, for their customers, and for their employees.

This is also, incidentally, why the Senate must pass its versions of HR1 and HR4 to protect voting rights going forward! Tell your friends!

POSTCARDS WITH FIELD TEAM SIX

Join Field Team 6 for a postcard party.  They will tell you everything you need to know to register new voters in districts we can flip.  And, the postcards are designed by Shepard Fairey (who created the famous Obama poster).

April 7
THRIVE!

Congress is on recess this week, so we’ve got plenty for them to do.  We want them to focus on the THRIVE agenda, which is a super-duper green new deal and infrastructure plan. We’ve got a meeting planned with Rep. Maloney to discuss this. Details to come.

April 8
CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATE FORUM
7:30

Join us for a debate between the candidates running to represent us in the city council. Remember, the primary is now in June, and we get ranked choice voting. So, it’s important to get to know all the candidates, even if you have a favorite.

It’s low tech, easy, and requires only an ordinary telephone. No need to keep checking multiple websites or spend hours hitting “refresh” in the hope of getting a slot. All you have to do is call  311.

I made one phone call, which was answered quickly, and a few minutes later I was all set. . ! got my first shot on Friday, and the next one is automatically scheduled.

Thank you to the random woman on line at Duane Reade who told me about this!

Oh, and wear a sleeveless, easy to roll up, or short sleeve shirt so it’s easy to get to your upper arm.
